Posted 5/25/07: Smallest home section on the ferry on May 23, 2007. Drives on and off with no problems.
*** see video	Interesting facts to note: Ferry Weight limits: 33,000 lbs single load/50,000 lbs overall: Rio Vista School bus (approx 36' long) goes across ferry daily: 28,000 lbs empty and up to 36,000 lbs. when full. Weights of each home section are less than the Rio Vista school bus when the kids are on the bus. 35' to 40' Class A Motorhome-diesel pusher: 31,000 lbs empty and up to 41,000 full. If pulling a boat, add 3,600 lbs. FedX or HomeDepot delivery truck: smaller trucks weigh 26,000 to 33,000 empty. Can go up to 48,000 depending on delivery load. HomeDepot trucks and trailers have also used ferry at times, and those weights may go over 50,000. Backhoe or crane on a flatbed pulled by truck: we see these occasionally going across the ferry. Or we just see the oversize backhoe or skip loaders drive on the ferry and drive off, no problems: Used for farming or road work, these heavy duty crawlers start at 38,000 lbs but usually weigh in excess of 45,000 lbs. Cavco Park Model Home sections in 2002 were "permit" loads that came across the same ferry. These units were 54' long, 12' high. weights of the home sections denied ferry transport:
45' school bus and 4 vehicles on the ferry comes close to 50,000 pounds all combined. Rio Vista school bus takes a ferry ride 2 times each school day!

To date, between 1999 and Nov 2006, at least 35 home sections have used the ferry. However, they were all labeled "park model" and not "manufactured home" even though they are built exactly the same

According to the truck driver, Ramos Gas delivery truck is 20,000 lbs empty. With half a load it goes to about 31,000 and with a full load its over 44,000 lbs. But on the Rio Vista ferry they do not go over the 31,000 lbs	large gas truck with Caltrans truck on ferry
