December 2011: More false and misleading maps
and data published by BDCP
For the last several years, the owner of Snug Harbor Resorts, LLC has
been going to Delta-related meetings, asking the drafters of the Delta
Vision document, the DRMS report, the Bay Delta Conservation Plan and
the new Delta Plan to tell the truth about Delta history and to use
correct Delta maps. As a perfect example of how government
agencies respond to citizens who
challenge the factual data of their reports, take a look at the official
maps and written documents
now in the EIR/EIS comment time period. The people drafting these
documents are very well
paid and they are controlled by intelligent people, so the mistakes made
below can not be accidents.
Is this punishment for speaking up over the years? I'd love to
hear from those of you better understand
the unpresidented political process currently being used on this attack
on the whole Delta, Snug
Harbor included. (By the way, there are several other
privately-owned recreational facilities that
are either errased or misplaced in the latest BDCP...its not just us!)
|
Click on the maps below to see full size of each
along with the location online where the data was found. For lots
of background info on the Delta water wars go to
http://www.DeltaREvision.com
and for the facts on Ryer Island go to
http://www.RyerIsland.com
And if you are so inclinded to read the volumes of pages of the BDCP and
the technical reports, etc go to
http://baydeltaconservationplan.com and
http://www.deltacouncil.ca.gov/ |
| Below left is the "Solano County General
Plan" per the BDCP and the notation on the side of the map says it was
updated in 2011. However, if one goes to the Solano County website
to look at the REAL general plan, one sees the map in the middle, which
was approved by Solano County voters in 2008. So does the BDCP
propose to rewrite the Solano County general plan and make the county go
through the whole process again? By the way, note that in the REAL
Solano County general plan the peninsula where we are located is
recognized as "commercial recreation" where the resort is located, and
"traditional residence" where the private homes along Snug Harbor Drive
are located. |
Below is the map from the current BDCP
documents showing the "private recreation facilities" in the north
Delta. There is a marina symbol where Snug Harbor is located, but
the written description is of Hidden Harbor. Also missing along
Steamboat Slough: marina symbol for Hidden Harbor, Delta EcoTours,
Grand Island Mansion and the Steamboat Resort, a private boat club, at
the north end of Steamboat Slough. |

Map above draws the eye to Ryer Island, even though its supposed to be
about Andrus and Brannen Islands. The data was based on the DRMS
Phase 1 report BEFORE the report
was corrected...Ryer Island has not flooded in the last 100 years, but
Andrus Island has
flooded. Grand Island should be listed the same as Ryer Island
based on its flood history,
so why the mistake there? |
